Carve Out Time for New Thanksgiving Activities

Crank up the merriment meter and make this Thanksgiving one to remember with new activities your family and friends will cherish for years to come. From fun crafts to friendly competition, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Here are some ideas to get the festivities started.

  • Lace up your sneakers and gobble up some fun at a local Turkey Trot. Whether you participate in the event or simply cheer from the sidelines, you'll be energized by the fresh air as you work up an appetite ahead of the big feast.
  • Show gratitude with a thankful tree. Arrange several small branches in a vase or glass jar, then cut leaves out of colorful construction paper. Invite guests to write down what they're thankful for on the leaves and attach them to the branches with small clothes pins.
  • Ask each guest to bring a favorite dish for "Sidesgiving." While the turkey is the star of the show, dinner wouldn't be complete without the scrumptious side dishes.
  • Entertain little ones with a special Thanksgiving craft. Print autumn-themed coloring sheets or give each child a make-your-own turkey kit with all the supplies they need to create their very own masterpiece.
  • Tune in to The National Dog Show. Have everyone pick their favorite as you all enjoy the oodles of cute and talented pups.
  • Host a memorable book swap during your gathering. Ask guests to bring a book they've enjoyed so they can exchange it for another story to savor over the holiday season.
  • Keep the celebration going into the evening with a bonfire. Gather friends and family around the warm glow for the perfect end to a festive day.

Take Care of Your Skin

Skin is your body's largest organ, and taking care of it is essential for your overall health. For National Healthy Skin Month, consider these dermatologist-approved strategies to keep your skin radiant and well-nourished.

Know Your Skin Type
Identifying your unique skin type can help you care for it more effectively. Whether your skin is dry, normal, combination, oily, or sensitive, understanding its needs will guide you in choosing the right products to improve certain conditions and address any concerns.

Take Daily Care
Apply sunscreen every day to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Try to avoid touching your face throughout the day to keep bacteria at bay, and prevent scarring by resisting the temptation to pick at blemishes. Don't forget that your lips are part of your skin, so be sure to keep them moisturized by wearing a lip balm with SPF 30 or higher. Regularly check your skin for any new or changing moles, and schedule an appointment with a dermatologist for an annual screening.
