National Nurses Week
Nurses deserve recognition and compassion now more than ever. From hospitals to battlefields to schools, nurses have long been on the frontlines of medicine.
The past two years have been highly stressful for medical workers, so let's turn the tables and care for the caregivers. National Nurses Week begins May 6 and culminates on May 12, which is the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
Here are a few ways to say thank you to your favorite nurses.
- Notes of gratitude
- Healthy snacks for long shifts
- Stethoscope charms
- Gift card to the hospital cafe or other nearby restaurant
- Compression socks
- Gift card to a medical apparel store
- Chocolate!
Nurses Week or not, we can be grateful every day for these hard-working professionals.
"Nurses are there when the last breath is taken, and nurses are there when the first breath is taken. Although it is more enjoyable to celebrate the birth, it is just as important to comfort in death." – Christine Bell, poet
